
Achievers Gymnasts Begin Competitive Season/Lake Dallas Athlete Wins Triple All-Around Titles
Denton, TX - - September 26 - - The Achievers compulsory gymnastics team recently opened their competitive season with competitions at the Gym-N Swim Invitational and District Qualifying meets held at Texas Womens University, the Dallas Gymnastics Center Invitational in Addison, and the Classic Invitational in Bedford.
The Level 5 placement team has had a terrific start to their season with team member Madeline Chapman of Lake Dallas, winning an impressive three all around titles in a row. Ms. Chapman has earned the top spot on the medal stand twice for uneven bars, four times for balance beam, and three times for floor exercise. She has also earned silver medals for vault and bars and a bronze for balance beam in the four meets. The Level 5 placement has won one team title at the Gym-N-Swim Meet, a second place at the TWU qualifier, and 3rd place at Dallas Gymnastics Center.
Shelby Horne of Valley View has also earned three silvers for vault and uneven bars and six bronze medals for uneven bars, balance beam and all around finishes. Katie Smith of Corinth earned a gold, silver, and bronze for her performances on beam, bars, and all around. Regan Egge of Corinth won silver on bars and beam and a bronze medal for all around. Nikki Pressley of Denton has won two bronze medals in bars and beam.
Achievers̢۪ Level 5 achievement team won a third place team trophy at the Gym-N-Swim invitational with a score of 169.0. Erin Davis of Lake Dallas, Emma Besier of Denton scored two of their teams top five all around scores at all four meets the team has competed. Emma Stalnaker of Corinth also contributed a top five score at the TWU District Qualifier.
Achievers̢۪ Level 6 team finished third in the team standings at the Dallas Gymnastics Center and Classic Gymnastics meets. Macy Horn of Denton won a Junior C all around title and gold medal at the Gym-N-Swim Meet. She also placed first on bars and third on balance beam. Brianna Richardson of Corinth won the Junior C bronze medal for her bar routine at the Classic meet. Alex Cates collected a gold medal for vault and bronze for all around at the Gym-N-Swim. Jenny Mehrmann of Denton has three bronze medals for floor exercise and another for uneven bars. Gabrielle Balcar of Corinth has earned 3 silvers for vault, bars, and floor at the Gym-N-Swim Meet.
The Level 4 achievement team earned 2nd place in the team competition at the Gym-N-Swim Invitational held at TWU in August with a 160.1 team score. Melissa Haltom of Argyle, Tiffany Clark of Denton, and Amanda Schneck of Corinth finished with three of the top five all around scores for their team to earn the 2nd place finish. The Level 4 team scored their highest team total of the season with a 172.9 at the District Qualifying meet in Denton. Haltom and Clark again earned top 5 all around scores for their team, while Hannah Crochet of Corinth and Mallory Horn of Denton also contributed.
The Achievers Compulsory Team of Denton is preparing for the last half of their competitive season which includes district and state championships. "I am very proud of all the Achievers athletes and coaches. They have been working hard to have a fun season. We are all looking forward to finishing this season with lots of success!", team director and Level 6 coach, J.J. Shanks added.
